Caked for resilience

What does it take to make a cake? We all know you need a box of cake mix, eggs, oil, water, pan, spray, and an operable oven. Another solution, make it yourself from scratch, here is the recipe (this cake is NOT pictured):

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
4 large eggs
2 cups granulated sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup canola oil or corn oil
2 cups finely grated carrots (from 5 or 6 carrots)
1 8 oz. can crushed pineapple in its own juice, well drained
1 cup finely chopped walnuts

For the frosting:
1/2 lb. cream cheese room tep.
3/4 cup unsalted butter room temp.
2 tsp. vanilla extract
4 cups confectioner's sugar
1 cup coarsely chopped walnuts (recipe by my sister-in-love Seefluth)

These are the choices to make a moist and delicious cake.

What does it take empowering women from domestic violence? Not exactly eggs, water, oil and the

rest, but, maybe close.

The support that sticks are the eggs

Water is the Word of God

Oil from the heavens is healing, exactly what survivors need.

Thick mounts of accusations, shame, guilt, folded in with put-downs and not sprinkled lightly are

chips of abusive words, physical harm, and more.

In Mark 6:13-14 this scripture address healing and deliverance, what every survivor wants to get

"caked" with. Additionally, James 5:14 flows with anointing oil. This is very real and most

applicable for women empowerment from domestic violence. This isn't all "churchy"- it's a bust out

of the four walls from the church to discuss this crucial matter.

While domestic violence is no comparison or cake-walk, it's my analogy of support for today.

Some of my first and personal encounters with domestic violence was with a cake.

Smashed in pieces before my eyes with a dozen guests on the way to my home to partake in this

lovely cake.

Though I was in tears right before visitors arrived, my dear sweet friend came and saved the day,

turning a demolished cake into squared cakes and serving to my companies delight (and they had no

clue).

Domestic violence is no joke- it's like matches, don't play!
