Ways to empowerment
Have you ever wondered why women who have been abused stay and how you can assist them?
There are a few reasons behind the question.
Children
Most of the time, children are involved. That makes it much tougher to leave. You don't want to tear children away from the perpetrator (who is their father), but the situation escalates if matters are not handled correctly.
Small children that see or hear abusive situations are more likely to have difficulty in this area as adults in some capacity.
What you can do to override this area is to pray for them. Another critical area is victims can talk with someone they trust- maybe a counselor or a good friend (they certainly act as a counselor).
Praying changes people and situations (as well, get them out of the abusive situation).
As a helper, you can offer to watch the kids and speak into their lives- teaching them about Jesus. Not a forcing type discussion, but introducing our savior to children if they don't already know Him.
Money
What do you do when your funds are not available? You are ready to make your escape or transition, but you are in needs of money? You pray. You tithe. You thank God for providing for you and believe He will come through for you. He works in various ways, you will be surprised at how He will come through for you. Maybe there will be room at the Inn, a friend's house, shelter, or another opening will arise. Do not lose hope.
You may feel impressed to buy someone who has been abused a lunch, dinner, or something special to reflect grace and kindness and that you love them as a person, as God's own.
Confidence
When you have had to stand up to a bully for a while, your spirit needs building up again. When you know this or know that and are assured of a firm foundational grounding whatever that might look like for you, you will skyrocket to places you had not thought of, and often.
Encouragement goes a long way.
Scared
If you lived with a bully, that is scary. The National Domestic Violence Hotline is 1-800-799-7233.
