Part II Loving Yourself: Self-Care
Continuing with Self-care
Love month is known in February, but February is not the
only month you love on yourself, it should be every day.
What you speak over yourself and what you believe about yourself should be good words, speaking life.
Women, coast-to-coast, and overseas battle the same issue of what they speak, believe, and see
about themselves. There is not an even count of who sees good and who see otherwise regarding their
self-care from top to bottom.
It was Tuesday morning, Sherri looked in the mirror, but it was not clean, making it tougher for her to
see the real her. Do you think she could truly see?
She looked in the mirror hoping for change.
All she could see was the pimple scar from 7th grade she tried to scrub off. It would not go away. Then,
she saw all the hurts and wounds of yesterday from another time about a decade ago. She then saw her
dried out or shabby hair where the ends looked like a whispery broom, brittle and truly need a lot of
conditioner and oil for the zing of a lasting "shine."
She then started to realize, why worry about all this she could not change. What's the point? She could
use make up for her scar to cover up the not pleasing look.
The hurts and wounds from yesterday, she learned were not doing her any favors. She decided to have a
"smores" night and "cast all her cares away." It's truly that simple. But none of us win trophies for
having casted all are cares, we carry them around like luggage, not cool self-care. There are no designer
bags for carrying luggage from whatever decade, none.
In Psalm 37 states to "fret not. Fret not nor have anxiety about anything but in everything by all prayer and supplication in Thanksgiving let all my request/desires be known to the Lord, and the God of peace which transcends all understand shall guard over my heart and mind in Jesus' name, amen."
I know when you have multiple issues going on, no fun. It's a rough to weather the storms, but this is
where discipline and meditation come into action.
As you discipline yourself not to fret, but to rely on Him (Father God), He will see you through. How
do you know? His Word says so. Check it out first. "Taste and See."
Whatever the issues or circumstances are, that's all they are. They are temporary and do not last forever.
God's truth last forever, that's where you camp.
So, as you look in the mirror, the suggestion is to speak affirmations over yourself and make
declarations and decrees. Examples:
"I declare I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus." II Corinthians 5:21
"I declare I am created in the image of God." Genesis 1:26
"I declare I have the mind of Christ." I Corinthians 2:16
Decrees are inserting God's Word for your life, your family's, your finances, and your health with His scripture. Look up the scripture you need whether it is for peace in your body, family, whatever situation and insert the particular scripture which is about peace. This is excellent self-care and I encourage you to implement daily, a few times a day to get you started.
Declare adds power to God's Word. His Word is so powerful, none of us can understand it. It's okay though, we make sure to speak His Words and obey them, trusting in Him and our self-care goes beyond measure, meaning very, very well.
Remember, value is a mindset. Babies and the echelon (elderly) are value, so why wouldn't you be?
You are so valuable and so worthy. This will also help you with your self-care. I hope you put this in
your daily treasure chests see yourself in
a new way.
