More Than 3 Different Ways to Break Patterns

Sharp Photos---Patterns are NOT the same Here

Starting from scratch looks daunting, especially when disappointment, discouragement, and everything else is pounding in your face. What do you do with relational woes, overcoming heartbreak and emotional rollercoasters from the feisty Firestarter? How do you get back on track and never face those giants again?

Well, for starters, each person handles their own comeback in a different way.

  • *Most women start with a bucket of ice cream....anybody hear me?

  1. * Shopping therapy is usually in the mix but not always allowed in the budget, especially after a domestic abuse break up.

  2. *If you are healthy enough to run, a big census loves to get the legs moving shaking off the dust from the past. Flinging off the dirt from the previous person who hurt you. All the edgy stuff has to go, so you shake those limbs into place with a lamp unto your feet going the right direction. Psalm 119:105 KJV

  3. *Others cry for days. Crying is normal, most people do it. I've done it, for days. Then, you have a point where the crying is done, it's all dried up. Crying is healing, so it is good that you can cry. If you cannot cry, and a hurting inside, you know there is something further to investigate.

  4. *Rule of thumb there is therapy.

  5. *But first start reading from scripture for healing, restoring, direction, and fine-tuning. God will not lead you astray, on contrary, the opposite.

So, breaking past the ice cream, possible shopping, runs, cries, time in the Word, and lots of time with those who love and care about you like friends and family- you know who they are. They are not all friends and family, but the special ones in your friend's group who get you, the special family members who you trust and who you can rely on and can hold water (the trust factor).

Now, for breaking the cycles.... There's a good one. Because, you don't want to drive off the same patterns you have in the past. Same old type of guy, same old types of decisions and ways of thinking, that's truly cringing, isn't it?

You will need to be intentional and become more disciplined with renewing your mind. It won't be instant like the microwave. It will take some time like the Thanksgiving turkey, slow cooked, you know what I am talking about.

Renewing your mind takes work, like homework, effort. It also takes time sitting with God. You can do it in a quiet peaceful place where there are no interruptions, you can do it with soft soaking or worship music, the point is to sit down with him when you have more than a few minutes time to commit to Him.

It may be hard at first because you might not be used to it. Start with 10 minutes, then work your way up to more time, 20 or 30 minutes. If you have work or need to tend to small children, of course, pace yourself.

Also, recognize the words you are speaking over yourself and the one whom you are angry with. Break the word curses in the name of Jesus.

Back to break patterns. If you see you are doing certain activities- saying particular words, picked up an unhealthy habit, take note and see how intentional you can be by dropping it or them and replacing with a better habit. You got this.

Break patterns of attracting the same person. You will want to pray about it, breaking relational curses off you. You might ask, "why are you attracted to the same type of person who keeps hurting you?" Definitely a good question to ask. Investigate. Pray about it.

Are you attracted to x type of guy who does this or that with money? Doesn't keep track? Gaslights? Makes excuses all the time? Or uses his fist and downgrading words to communicate? Also, how is his relationship with his family, his mom, dad?

Much of this is driven by a spirit that is behind the cute little face you are so attracted to. I know, that's a bummer. But you can do something about it. Pray, praise, worship, put your full armor of God on, protect yourself with the shield of faith, and stand tall. But there is much more. Move on.
