 SERIES IV Blog: DVAM

To avoid frustration, anxiety, and control, you must be aware of the signs while dating.

Shut those doors before they open as you become keenly aware of the holes in domestic violence- which is one big pit.

Here is a story in the third series:

Kasey sat down for breakfast, and she noticed her phone was dinging off the charts as she had just started her day at a conference beaming about learning more about sales.

All the texts were from Kasey’s boyfriend. He wanted to know where she was by 8:15 am; he had sent thirty-two texts. Kasey was a bit frustrated- she turned her phone off the remainder of the day. By 5:30 pm, she had a whopping 210 messages from Scott.

Everyone at the table shocked by her phone constantly going off. “Can you turn it off?”

The awareness from within her group was visible, spoken, and connected as well as supportive to Kasey.

Her friends raised questions Kasey needed to think about. One said, “was that truly necessary?” Another said, “out of line.” Kasey responded with, “he cares guys.” Serena said, “think about the number of texts in that amount of time…..we’re concerned for you….what would that be like if you two were married?” Big awareness coming from close friends that Kasey could not see.

After finishing a wonderful day of the conference filled with hope, tools, encouragement, and even taking home door prizes, the friends went to dinner…., no, Scott did not know.

Kasey gave him a telephone ring and friends at the table could hear him blasting through the phone. The waitress took note and she gave Kasey pointers, as Miss Helen the waitress was in ministry school, she had kind and firm words to speak into Kasey’s life as well as direction and instruction if Kasey was “willing’ to listen and take heart.

Kasey was attentive because we know the “senses” are important to what we see, hear, touch, smell, and taste.

Four months into dating Scott, she thought she could generously give him more time. Serensa said Kasey is too soft.

Soon, the cook delivered the food- piping hot, the works cheeseburgers with milkshakes and fries, then a carrot cake to share afterwards.

The cook was then interested in Kasey, but he soon learned she has a boyfriend- which may or may not last exceptionally long.

It is all about even control as there’s level control in the spirit, so should it be in the natural, but many do not catch the memo or understand while others do and live more equally balanced and sustained lives.

Kasey toggled about it and was unsure. You could say she was trying to throw anxiety out, but she was thinking from a fear-based mentality, and very undecided. James 1 talks about this. Make sure your yes is yes, and your no, be no, not be flippy floppy or indecisive, that will not be in your favor. This is my paraphrase.

Tips for Dating:

  • Friends first (no matter what age)
  • Have conversations getting to know each other.
  • Have Boundaries (as relation grows if it does)
  • Watch and listen to words, actions, body language, gestures, especially the eyes.
  • Where does the money come from? How is it used? Is there equality here? Who is in control- is the same for both? This is a BIG clue.
  • Watch shifts in behavior and responses.
  • Have fun!
  • Pray over (really, the first thing)
  • Ask about family (usually a red flag; see how everyone gets along and respects and honors one another)
  • Listen to your inner self (should be after prayer, which should be the first)
  • Trust is very important- without it, there's nothing because trust is love. Dating doesn't start out that way, but it can blossom in this direction.
