I read about an iceberg in a well-written book by, Kindra Hall, saw an iceberg in the movie, Titanic (which I'm sure most of you have watched), and I purchased some iceberg lettuce for my homemade salads and sandwiches a couple of times a week, but what is the real story?

Grocery shoppers at times fray away from iceberg lettuce thinking it doesn't give as many vitamins as the dark greens many of us hope for.

The truth is, iceberg lettuce is helpful in these areas:

Vitamin A & K- A helps you see at night and is supports your eye health and cell growth. C is a powerful for antioxidant health and immune system. Going into the wintertime zone soon, we all will want more greens, especially salads anyway we can consume them.

I for one am a salad happy person. Mixing and matching all the goodies on a salad helps is supreme (not pizza!).

Drinking water is very good. Here's a chart to help you see much water you should drink according to your weight.
I know you know this, but our bodies are made up of eight percent water, which is quite a bit. We still need more!
Another way to consume more water is through, you guessed it, iceberg lettuce.

Ever thought of using two leaves of iceberg lettuce as your bread on a hamburger? I've seen people do it and they don't think twice about it. I have done it once; it was not my favorite although some foodies thoroughly enjoy the crunch, difference, and no additional carbs.

What does iceberg lettuce have to do with empowering women against domestic violence?
I'd say it's encouraging to know you have a selection to choose from in the produce department, make it exciting and fun for your future meals: sandwiches, taco salad, regular salad, wraps, and maybe use it as a cracker.

The encouragement is endless if it is allowed and chosen. I hope you all will choose lettuce today and try something new.

Empowering women against domestic violence, even with a head of lettuce! #letsgo!
