Think about your safety. Today, there are hotline numbers available all across the United States, use them, they are there for you or someone you know that needs safety.
Take the steps necessary to create a welcoming atmosphere for you and your children or someone that you know. What is the atmosphere that gives you joy? What makes you feel protected? What makes you feel happy?
How to use the law- The United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights-
Article I, III, and V, 1948
"All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights.... Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person.
...No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment."
(Hunt., Domestic Violence Assault on a Woman's Worth, 2013).
Take the action. Faith plus action will get you every where! I know sometimes it can be scary, but I also know you or someone you know is one of the bravest women out there because you already reading this, doing your research and making the plan to move forward, thus, taking action. God will do the rest, watch Him move.
