Reading vs. Television- 

Creativity or the boob tube.

Knowledge is power.

Reading ignites your imagination.

Imagine your desire to fulfill your dream for some, a new job. Others are going to school to learn a new craft. Perhaps, moving forward from a situation you never thought you would become part of. #enddomesticviolence.

 You read about your rights as a woman. You read how to change your flat tire. You read how to make a juicy meal for your family, which you have not tried before. You read about the new extensions for your hair- after all, you have never put them in yourself, but why not try not- you read and learn or the sassy new highlights. You read and learn how to become more creative in your drive and passion, whatever that looks like for you. 

For some, your burning desires since you were kiddo have been tucked inside, dormant for years. You forgot how smart and talented you are.

If you are overcoming domestic violence, you are now seeing truth and light, maybe for the first time in a long while.

As you begin reading pages filled with information, examples about "how-to," you may feel something rise inside you.

 Habakkuk 2:2-3 tells us, "write the vision and engrave it so plainly upon tablets that everyone who passes may read as he hastens by. For the vision is yet for an appointed time and it hastens to the end; it will not deceive or disappoint. Though it tarry, wait for it, because it will surely come; it will not be behindhand on its appointed day.

I want to encourage you today not only to read the fine print but use your talents and gifts. As you read, you empower yourself. Ideas:

Articles, blog, history book, fictoion, historical fiction, Bible, science books, newspapers, magazines, sports novels, mystery novels, non-fiction (biographies and memoirs), inspiritational, poetry, and more.

If you are not a fan of reading, think about asking God, why not? Are your eyes tired? You think it is a waste of time? Not into it? You will find value in reading versus watching television- and I suppose it will all depend on what you watch.

Remember, be knowledgeable about what you are signing; documents, contracts, agreements, leases, and so forth.

Now, about television. 

You can clean it off with wipes and polish it, but what comes through the screen, you control what you watch. 

I watch an occasional Shark Tank, Hallmark Movies, sometimes The Profit, and ministries like Joyce Meyers or T.D. Jakes. Most are for educational purposes, except Hallmark Movies- but they are educational, too.

Television does is not especially for using your imagination. Television thinks for you or tells you what to do. Good to be aware of what you allow your eyes to see. Does it raise your spirit (you will bubble inside) or dampen your spirit?

God wants us to be careful with what we see and hear. Sometimes, we need to wash the stuff off- you can do so with Psalm 121:2-8.
