Cruising for warmth in the hallway of another’s home, Penelope decided......
It was time to
order pizza!
Though she
did not want to open the door the delivery because the scene outside was blizzard-like,
she did crack the window open for two seconds to be sure of her decision.
She was
not sure if they even delivered food on a boisterous weather day or not.
While
visiting her friend, Palmita, she missed the friendly Hawaiian skies that she
had traded in for a few weeks of wintry mix to comfort her friend who was
overcoming domestic abuse.
She knew
Olaf would appreciate the snowy weather!
With a
blanket wrapped around her walking like a penguin, Penelope scouts the pantry
for some grub. Something she knew that would soothe both and conquer their
hunger pangs.
Penelope
knew they both needed to eat. Protein with hot biscuits might do the trick!
“Flour,
flour, where are you?” Stuffed in the back in the dark corner, she pulls out
the unopened bag, “yes!”
Penelope
and Palmita used to make hot down-home biscuits with Penelope’s mama, what a
great childhood memory!
Now they
all live at a distance, so the memories they hold are very dear.
She freed
herself of the Sherpa blanket and starts mixing everything together.
Oven set,
biscuits go in and ham and eggs on the cooker!
Another
fond memory, they would make treats for the neighbors. Since it is cold where
Palmita lives, Penelope has an idea to invite the neighbors over for a nice
cozy warm meal, but she is also reminded of Palmita’s emotions right now;
overcoming discouragement, and the way she was recently treated by her former
boyfriend and the scene he made at her job.
Penelope knew
the best idea was to listen to and support her friend, the whole reason she
flew all the way from Hawaii.
While the
trip was a long haul to Colorado, her friend truly needed her.
Penelope
is a nurse and nurtures others very well. She knew from an early age that she
would become a nurse and she did.
Ironically,
her best friend is overcoming domestic abuse.
This is
not something like a common cold, although it is common. It is widespread as
the ocean. It demands the care and support like a baby receives. Unfortunately,
not all can fly at a distance to support a friend, but a good phone call brings
cheer and encouragement through the roof.
As various
women across America and abroad face this giant which takes stamina and effort
to eradicate from the scene, it takes faith, belief, and action to move forward
with a changed mindset.
There are
dozens of elements to go with this, but we do not have time for all of them in
this posting. Keep the faith, welcome the support (where I know, trust can be
an issue) and enjoy some hot down-home biscuits to start your day with protein
in every bite, and know, Jesus loves you.
