A new year and a new you take work, doesn't it? Each section is as a measuring cup, seeing what needs to be done differently and that isn't always fun but is doable.

The starting point begins with, sleep.

Are you sleeping well at night? Enough rest is the key to thinking well, having plenty of energy and strength and stamina to go about your day's schedule.

If you are waking up or just cannot sleep during the night, that makes it tough to concentrate where you need to focus.

You have kids, work, maybe school, activities, even just getting through the day on your own efforts is a job.

The body has to rest at some point though, and your spirit, it stays awake all of the time, so playing the right music on low while your asleep is a key. Good ole' peace and quiet work too, but you have to get where you mind is not in "wondering" mode.

One way to align yourself back into peace is read the Word of God. Read it aloud until you get tired.

Another way, meditate on certain scriptures which reflect what you are in need of, sleep.

Psalm 4:8 "I will both lie down and sleep, for you, Lord, alone make me dwell in safety and confident trust." This is where you can work on alignment.

A situation or words may have you all worked up, but as you "release" the junk to the Lord in prayer, and receive (keyword here) His peace, you will feel a significant difference.

It's good to camp here so you resonate with the words of the page. Talk about your fire lighting up (in a very good way, because He, the Lord is light and the light overpowers the darkness in all situations).

Another way is putting soaking music on. It's soothing and calming. You can look up:

  •  Julie True
  •  Declaring his Kingdom by William Augusto,
  • Music by Daniel Kleefeld,
  • Kari Jobe
  • Joshua- Healing Lightwaves, Shelter, Wash Over Me

This list will get you started, calming your heart and mind regarding situations and circumstances, help you wash off the day of unwanted items from the day you don't want to carry because you know they are no good for you.

There are more artists to list, we'll have to mention another time.

If you are sleeping too much, could be a thyroid issue, you will need to go have lab taken by having your physician or clinician call that in for you.

Your hormones also may need to be checked, which I'd recommend the right clinician or specialist to check your hormones.

If you are just feeling bad, definitely see a counselor that is "right" for you so you can propel forward. Ask some questions about their background. You can also have a trusted person go with you and have that helping person ask the counselors questions with, or for you. I encourage you to try your best to do what you can, to ask the questions which gives you more confidence in your self-care.

Christian counseling is a wise move if that is where you are and what you need to move forward. They can give you tips, techniques, talking you through areas you don't understand why you are sleeping too much, if that is the case.

Another area to check either way, sleeping too little or too much, what kind of foods and drinks are you consuming? Take note of your daily intake. There's a flag right there.

Notice what the ingredients are and go from there seeing if you are receiving all the proper nutrients as food affects sleep and other areas too.
