A bite of new information

Miles from her hometown, Karla, was homesick. {we get like that sometimes, don't we?}

She had moved away for school {3 states away} and secured a job before the semester started and lived on campus. Even though she had a busy schedule, she wanted to date again. It had been three years since Buster and the nasty black eye- he didn't bring very soothing memories to mind.

Karla focused on her new position as a department manager at a local clothing store as she was studying design anyway. She thought of her future to be bright and tasteful, peaceful, and full of character.

After a 45- hour work week, she decided it was time to have some fun with some friends she'd met in class and a local gym. Here, she would relieve any stressors from work, school, or afflicted areas of her life.

One weekend, Karla, Mina, Tellie, and Rena went for apple pie after a movie. In the apple pie was a message from a guy that had been eyeing Karla for a few weeks. He saved the piece of dessert particular for when she came in, and he knew she was coming in because he'd overheard the conversation for the weekend plans at the school coffee shop.

Karla bit into her tasty, laced apple pie and noticed something odd in her mouth; paper!
She grabbed a napkin, brought it to her mouth, and pulled the paper out. She was a bit horrified to find a foreign object in her pie.

Telli, the jokester of the bunch, said, "Happy Halloween." Karla didn't think that was funny at all. She said, "really?" Rena asked, "what is it?" Mina burst out, "I think it's from the guy behind the counter in the kitchen, he seems infatuated with you eating the pie, look, he's staring at you!"
Meanwhile, Karla had already taken the piece of paper out of her mouth and began to read the note. All her friends are in excitement, "what does it say, what does it say, come on!"
Karla announces after wiping juicy apple filling off the paper and her mouth, "888-123-1234", I have something to tell you that I could not say in person."
By now, the girls are intrigued and sort of freaking out. Tellie announces, "are you going to call, or do you need privacy?" It was almost like a scene from the movie Grease, "tell me more, tell me more."
